Kateřina focuses on speech perception and native language acquisition. In her master’s thesis, she investigated silent speech perception in deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals. In her PhD project, she is now exploring speech development in infants and toddlers with familial risk of dyslexia, and the influence of multilingual upbringing on this process. The aim of her project is to better understand how genetic and linguistic factors affect early language development, which could contribute to earlier diagnosis and intervention in children at risk of dyslexia. This project was supported in 2025 by the Charles University Grant Agency. In addition to her own research, Kateřina is also involved in other projects that include testing language abilities in infants. You may have met her in the babylab at Hybernská or Voršilská.
